Jianshui Zi Tao Clay Teapot Black and Flat with Countryside Scene 110ml - FREE SHIPPING
This teapot was handmade in Jianshui, Yunnan, China. We visited Wan Yao village where these teapots are made. We wrote about the experience in our travel blog. Jianshui teapots are made from 5 uniquely colored clays sourced in the mountains outside Jianshui. They are single fired and never glazed. This is a true clay and lacks any sand which allows them to be hand polished to give a shiny appearance. The natural minerals in the clay will enhance the flavor of your tea. Jianshui teapots work great puerh tea.
This teapot holds 110ml of water. The artist is Li Wen Xue. The left side of the teapot says "Gao Shan Liu Shui", this means "Top Mountain Running Water." This comes from an old story of a guzhen expert. A passing lumberjack hearing only the music understood that the musician was describing a tall mountain with a majestic flowing river. They became best friends. After the lumberjack eventually died the guzhen expert broke his instrument and said he would never play again.
This is a very unique shaped teapot. We've not seen one like it before. Unlike most this teapot was thrown on a potters wheel. It is very well made and has plenty of room to brew tea.
