We had these gaiwans made in Jianshui this year. These gaiwans have a classic shape and are a real pleasure to use.
If you are looking for an affordable entry into brewing tea with clayware this is an excellent option. Given the porous nature of the clay it would be suggested to only brew similar teas in the same gaiwan.
These are each handmade by an artists workshop in Jianshui. They are single fired and unglazed. This is a true clay which lacks any sand. The natural minerals in the clay will enhance the flavor of your tea. Jianshui is in Yunnan, and the clay used in these gaiwans comes from the same mountains that grow puerh tea trees. We appreciate that connection. We blogged about this unique town here.
Since these are handmade products each are unique and may vary slightly from the pictures. They measure on average 9cm wide and are around 7cm tall. These ship with a wooden storage box.
