Ok, these cups are pretty awesome. We did something a little bit extra with these. We took our regular Jianshui carved clay cups and we had them glazed with a custom iron rich glaze with powdered jade added. The result is subtle but very cool. The glaze is very shiny and shows off the carved notches. The colors shift between a rustic brown and a rich red wine. These were fired for 7 days in a wood fired kiln but were protected in saggars. They are high fired and do amazing things for your tea!

The cups are very shiny and hold a lot of detail under close inspection. These are really nice cups that feel great in the hand. Each cup was thrown on the wheel and then our special texture was carved into the exterior. The texture really adds a special tactile element to your tea session. 

We only have 7 of these cups. Yours will be special and unique.

The wood firing process added a slight squishiness to the cups. Some are ever so slightly out of round. Since these are handmade products each are unique. There are slight variations to each.

Jianshui is in Yunnan, and the clay used in these teacups comes from the same mountains that grow puerh tea trees. We appreciate that connection. We blogged about this unique town here.

These cups measure on average 8cm Wide by 5cm Tall. They hold approximately 70ml of tea.

These are not easy to photograph. We did edit the photographs to enhance them and highlight the colors in the glaze. We hope you enjoy your cup when it arrives.
